VIDEO: Refugees left homeless after fire at Rohingya camp in Bangladesh

A massive fire swept through an overcrowded Rohingya Muslim refugee camp in southern Bangladesh on Sunday, leaving thousands homeless.

The country’s deputy commissioner for refugees, Shamsud Douza, said about 2,000 dwellings, mostly made of bamboo and tarpaulin, in the Baluhali refugee camp were destroyed by fire.

A fire department spokesperson at a camp in the Cox’s Bazar area said no casualties were reported, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ Office in Bangladesh said it was providing support.
