Getting your first taste Springbok camp in 2022Sascha Feinberg-Mngomezulu says he is “very” eager to earn a place on the team that travels to France for the World Cup.
Fainberg-Mngomezulu quickly rose through the ranks, taking over the Junior Springboks and winning the Under-20 Six Nations Summer Series before making his Stormers debut in the 2021-22 Rugby United Championship play-offs.
Later in 2022, he was called to Gazelle a detachment that toured Europe in November and got a taste of the action for the South African “A” side.
“I really want it”
In an interview with SideSquad the talented young playmaker admitted his experience through 2022 has only made him aim for more as he would like to play in the upcoming World Cup in France.
“I really want this,” he admitted. “I mean, who wouldn’t want to play in the World Cup?
“But I know that I have to focus on my work Stormers. After that, everything will take care of itself.”
Able to move across the backline, Feinberg-Mngomezulu made his URC debut from the bench at centre, where he was mostly used by the Stormers, but says he considers himself more of a linebacker.

“I don’t mind playing at 10, 12 or 15, but at heart I’m a fly agaric. My strengths are the characteristics of fly agaric. My footwork is one of my strengths, so flyhalf is where you can play it a little more.
“Flyhalf is the position I love the most, but playing time is the most important. Wherever the team needs me, I am there.”
He is only 21 but admits he still has a lot to learn to reach his potential as a No. 10.
“When you are in school, you can take control of the game half way from that position. Coaches want you to fulfill this role at an adult level, but the big difference is that you can’t be the star of the show.
“It’s more about working together, organizing an attack and sending other people into space. You have to keep the team in good shape. You cannot carry out your own mission.”
