The streets in Rennes, France, were littered with trash on March 11 following protests against the government’s proposed pension reform, which was approved by the Senate on Saturday evening. According to the Le Monde report, the Senate had 195 votes in favor of the pension reform and 112 votes against. In a statement posted on Twitter, the mayor of Rennes, Natalie Appert, said she strongly condemned the violence that had taken place. Upper accused small groups on the fields of peaceful demonstrations of damaging businesses and attacking police. These people “had nothing to do” with the “social movement,” she said.
